Acceptable Use Policy

Plain-language summary

This isn’t legally binding — the full policy below controls — but here’s the gist:

  • Don’t use Sandbots to do illegal stuff
  • Don’t use Sandbots to harm, deceive, or defame people
  • Don’t scrape websites you don’t own or have permission to scrape
  • Don’t generate content that violates fair housing, anti-discrimination, or advertising laws
  • Don’t try to break, abuse, or reverse-engineer the Service
  • You’re responsible for what you generate and how you use it
  • We can suspend or close accounts that violate this policy

1. Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of the Sandbots™ platform and related services (the “Service”) provided by Sandbox Media Corporation (“Sandbox Media,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. Violation of this AUP is a material breach of the Terms of Service and may result in suspension or termination of your Account.

This AUP applies to all Customers, Users, and individuals accessing the Service.

2. General principles

You agree to use the Service:

  • In compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • In accordance with our Terms of Service and this AUP
  • In a manner consistent with the Service’s intended purposes
  • With respect for the rights of other Customers, Users, and third parties

You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your Account, including the activity of Users you invite to your Organization.

3. Prohibited uses

3.1 Illegal activity

You may not use the Service to:

  • Engage in any activity that violates Canadian, U.S., or other applicable law
  • Plan, facilitate, or carry out illegal activity
  • Generate content used in furtherance of illegal acts
  • Violate court orders or regulatory requirements

3.2 Harmful or abusive content

You may not use the Service to generate or distribute content that:

  • Threatens, harasses, intimidates, or stalks any individual or group
  • Promotes violence, terrorism, or extremism
  • Promotes self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
  • Constitutes hate speech or incites discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • Sexualizes minors or constitutes child sexual abuse material (zero tolerance — accounts will be terminated immediately and reported to authorities)
  • Constitutes non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Glorifies or incites mass casualty events

3.3 Deception and fraud

You may not use the Service to:

  • Engage in fraud, scams, phishing, or financial deception
  • Impersonate any individual, organization, or government body in a manner likely to mislead
  • Generate fake reviews, testimonials, or endorsements
  • Create deepfakes or synthetic media designed to deceive
  • Manipulate elections or political processes through coordinated inauthentic behavior
  • Misrepresent AI-generated content as human-generated where such misrepresentation could cause harm

3.4 Intellectual property violations

You may not use the Service to:

  • Infringe any third party’s copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other IP rights
  • Reproduce copyrighted content (text, images, music, video) without authorization
  • Distribute pirated software, content, or media
  • Circumvent technical protection measures or DRM

3.5 Privacy violations

You may not use the Service to:

  • Collect, use, or disclose personal information about others without lawful basis
  • Engage in surveillance, doxxing, or non-consensual tracking
  • Generate content that violates individuals’ reasonable expectations of privacy
  • Process personal information in violation of applicable privacy laws (PIPEDA, GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

3.6 Web Scraper restrictions

The Web Scraper feature is subject to specific restrictions. You may use Web Scrapers only:

  • On websites you own
  • On websites where you have explicit written permission from the owner to scrape
  • On publicly accessible content where scraping is permitted by the website’s terms of service and robots.txt

You may not use Web Scrapers to:

  • Scrape competitor websites without permission
  • Bypass paywalls, login screens, or other access controls
  • Scrape websites in violation of their terms of service
  • Scrape websites that prohibit scraping in their robots.txt
  • Generate excessive load that disrupts target websites
  • Scrape personal information about individuals from social media or other personal sites
  • Aggregate data in ways that violate the source website’s contractual or legal restrictions

You acknowledge that violation of these restrictions may expose you to liability under copyright law, computer access laws (such as Canada’s Criminal Code section 342.1, the U.S. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and similar laws in other jurisdictions), and contractual claims by target website owners.

You agree to indemnify Sandbox Media against any claims arising from your use of Web Scrapers in violation of this AUP.

3.7 Regulated industry restrictions

If you operate in a regulated industry, you are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with applicable regulations. Particular care is required in:

  • Real estate: Outputs must comply with fair housing laws (such as the Canadian Human Rights Act, U.S. Fair Housing Act, and equivalent provincial/state laws). Do not generate content that discriminates based on protected characteristics in housing advertising.
  • Financial services: Outputs do not constitute investment, tax, or financial advice. Do not represent AI-generated content as professional financial advice.
  • Healthcare: Outputs do not constitute medical advice. Do not use the Service to generate clinical recommendations, diagnoses, or treatment plans for patient care.
  • Legal services: Outputs do not constitute legal advice. Do not represent AI-generated content as legal advice or rely on it for legal decisions without attorney review.
  • Advertising and marketing: Comply with all applicable consumer protection, truth-in-advertising, and disclosure laws (such as the Canadian Competition Act, U.S. FTC guidelines, and equivalent laws elsewhere).
  • Children-targeted content: Comply with COPPA (U.S.), the Canadian Code for Marketing to Children, and equivalent laws.

3.8 Spam and unsolicited communications

You may not use the Service to:

  • Generate spam, bulk unsolicited commercial email, or unwanted communications
  • Violate the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act, or equivalent laws
  • Send communications without required consent or opt-out mechanisms

3.9 Service abuse and circumvention

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or AI models from the Service
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network
  • Breach or circumvent authentication, security, or access controls
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or any other Customer’s use of it
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service
  • Use automated means to access the Service except through APIs we provide
  • Circumvent Subscription limits (Credits, Web Scrapes, Storage, user counts) through technical means
  • Use multiple Accounts to evade limits or restrictions
  • Resell or redistribute the Service except as expressly permitted (such as authorized agency arrangements)

3.10 AI-specific prohibited uses

Given the nature of AI-powered services, you may not use the Service to:

  • Generate content for the purpose of training competing AI models
  • Use Outputs to evaluate, benchmark, or develop competing AI products
  • Generate content designed to manipulate, exploit, or deceive other AI systems
  • Create AI-generated content that would violate the terms of service of platforms where it will be published (e.g., generating fake reviews for posting on Google, Yelp, etc.)
  • Generate prompts or content designed to extract protected information from underlying AI models
  • Bypass safety controls of underlying AI models

3.11 Other prohibited uses

You may not use the Service to:

  • Engage in market manipulation or insider trading
  • Generate content related to weapons of mass destruction (CBRN)
  • Provide instructions for creating dangerous substances or weapons
  • Generate content that exploits vulnerable populations
  • Engage in any activity that we, in our reasonable discretion, determine poses a risk to other users, third parties, or the integrity of the Service

4. Customer responsibility

4.1 Review and verification

AI-generated Outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, or content that is misleading, biased, infringing, or otherwise problematic. You are responsible for reviewing all Outputs before using or publishing them.

This includes:

  • Verifying factual claims
  • Checking for potential IP infringement
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws
  • Reviewing for tone, accuracy, and brand alignment

4.2 No reliance for high-stakes decisions

You agree not to rely on Outputs for decisions where errors could cause significant harm to individuals or your business without independent verification by qualified professionals. This includes:

  • Medical, legal, or financial decisions affecting individuals
  • Hiring, firing, or evaluation decisions affecting employees
  • Decisions about credit, housing, insurance, or other regulated areas
  • Safety-critical operations

4.3 Disclosure of AI use

Where required by law (such as the EU AI Act, Canadian AIDA when in force, or sector-specific regulations), you are responsible for disclosing AI use to relevant parties. Sandbox Media does not require disclosure of AI use as a general matter, but you should consult applicable laws.

4.4 Compliance with industry standards

You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with industry standards relevant to your business, including:

  • Marketing and advertising codes
  • Professional ethics requirements (legal, medical, financial professional codes)
  • Data protection standards (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc., where applicable)

4.5 User behavior in Organization Accounts

Organization Admins are responsible for the conduct of Users they invite to their Organization. You agree to:

  • Provide appropriate training to your Users
  • Remove access for Users who violate this AUP
  • Notify us promptly of any breach by your Users that you become aware of

5. Reporting violations

5.1 How to report

If you become aware of a violation of this AUP — by another Customer, a User in your Organization, or otherwise — please report it to:

Provide as much detail as possible, including:

  • The nature of the violation
  • The Account or User involved (if known)
  • Supporting evidence (screenshots, links, etc.)
  • Your contact information

5.2 Confidentiality

We will treat reports confidentially to the extent reasonably possible, but may disclose information when investigating or responding to violations.

5.3 No retaliation

Sandbox Media will not retaliate against Customers or Users who report AUP violations in good faith.

6. Enforcement

6.1 Investigation

We may investigate suspected AUP violations through:

  • Review of Account activity and Customer Content
  • Review of Outputs
  • Review of Web Scraper activity
  • Communication with the Customer or User

6.2 Actions we may take

If we determine that a violation has occurred, we may, at our sole discretion:

  • Issue a warning
  • Require corrective action
  • Suspend or restrict specific features (such as Web Scrapers)
  • Suspend the Account temporarily
  • Terminate the Account
  • Report to law enforcement or regulatory authorities
  • Pursue legal remedies

6.3 Severity considerations

In determining the appropriate response, we may consider:

  • The severity of the violation
  • Whether it was a first-time or repeated violation
  • The Customer’s response and remediation efforts
  • The risk to other Customers, Users, or third parties
  • Any applicable legal obligations

6.4 Immediate termination

For severe violations — including child sexual abuse material, threats of violence, or activities that pose imminent legal or security risks — we may suspend or terminate Accounts immediately without prior notice.

6.5 No refunds for AUP violations

Termination for AUP violation does not entitle the Customer to a refund of prepaid fees.

7. Changes to this AUP

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product notification at least 30 days before taking effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this AUP reflects the most recent revision.

Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
